Through simple, fun exercises playing with movement, sound, and language, we shake up the ways we use our bodies, voices, and imaginations.
Action Theater is an improvisation training form developed by Ruth Zaporah. It is fun. It is challenging. It is transformational. And whether or not you are a performer it offers tools to strengthen and sustain your resilience and ability to respond to whatever comes at you – personal or political. Whether you're a neophyte or an experienced improvisor, come and play!

Saturday, October 11th 2025 - 7:00pm price : Pay $10-$20 at the door (sliding scale) or volunteer for discounted entry. Proceeds go to benefit the Camp Friendship Food Pantry to assist local families in need.Action Theater performance improvisation and the Barefoot Boogie - what a perfect match! Rachel Cohen will be leading a one hour class exploring modes of expression and improvisation that you may not have ever thought possible for yourself! No experience needed. Please arrive by 7pm sharp and wear comfortable clothes.
This will be followed by a glorious evening of conscious movement and fun with the Barefoot Boogie! Accompanied by drawings created and projected on the big screen in real time by resident artist Stewart Hoyt to juice up the atmosphere!
All are welcome to dance, connect, and groove in a safe, cool and inclusive environment as our DJs spin energizing beats that will get you moving and lift your spirits.

The Houston performances will feature Racoco members Rachel Cohen and Masumi Kishimoto and Houston-based dancers Tobaric Atkins-Montana and Persi Mey, and Houston musicians Luke Hubley (vibraphone), Naomi Hoffmeyer (harp), Molly Wise (viola), and Patrick Moore (cello) playing music composed and arranged by Chris Becker.
